Spending inordinate amounts of time at The Nature Store playing with rain sticks...
Another reason to visit CA:
To check out Paige Smith's "Geode" Street Art Project
The past couple months I have been working on a street art project around the Los Angeles area. Rather than using traditional paint or wheat paste methods in a 2D platform, I’ve been using paper in 3D. These sculptures come in all sizes and fit in the holes of buildings and pipes found while walking around. The finished shapes represent geodes, crystal, quartz, or any mineral formation that you would normally find in nature, now in our planned out cities.
I've been harassed more than once by my coworkers for my tendency to google GEODE, and stare for chunks for time at the computer screen...

Sitting on your duff for 9 hours in a car gets you here
This past weekend (plus a few necessary vacation days) I was fortunate enough to be a part of a road trip to Philadelphia.
On several occasions we were asked by the locals "WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU CHOOSE PA OF ALL THE OTHER AVAILABLE US STATES?!" - and for that reason alone, I present to you why we chose Philadelphia:
CHEESESTEAKS!
DORITOS LOCOS FROM AN AMERICAN TACO BELL
(clearly Taco Bell Canada has something against their customers having intense and memorably culinary experiences?!)
All of the necessary sights were seen
(please note the bachelorette party w/ the huge inflatable penis underneath Robert Indiana's LOVE sculpture - do 'em proud, ladies!)
My favourite part of the trip was our visit to The Eastern State Penitentiary, and the most interesting portion of the abandoned prison was Judith Scaechter's stained-glass window
There was a great guided tour of the prison (I'm slightly disappointed they were all out of audio tours that were narrated by Steve Buscemi)
yadda yadda yadda
There was more food than I knew what to with in this place
When in Philly, see a drag queen show or two...
"My donation will help the National Park Service protect and preserve the Liberty Bell, support educational programs, and improve visitor services"
Don't go wasting my money, ok?!
Meeting The Phillie Phanatic is one of my top 10 goals in life - finding an artist's rendition of the guy is pretty close if you ask me!
CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW MANY EPISODES OF JERRY SPRINGER MUST BE IN THIS BUILDING?!?!?!
There were plenty of hustlers hawking their wares on the steps leading to the Philadelphia Museum of Art (aka ROCKY STEPS) - their office has a pretty sweet view!
Saw some famous people...whatever!
Shame on you, TTC!
Fun fact: The Museum of Art was too rich for our blood, so instead we frequented the gift shop.
GOT ME A SALVADOR DALI "LOBSTER TELEPHONE" HOLOGRAM POSTCARD, Y'ALL!!!

Let's Go Down To The Floor
I'm off to Philadelphia in a few days to explore (Eastern State Penitentiary y'all), eat cheese steaks, and see my teenage idol, James Iha LIVE IN CONCERT for the first time!!!
We'll be driving, and our plans are to make the slight stop over in Delaware to do the following:
I'm excited to spend a few days away from Toronto - I think the Queen streetcar is starting to get to me, and there are only so many songs that keep me from losing my shit.

WIG
Items like Tania De Cruz's wig ceramic vase make me feel like an untalented, lazy schlub.
I know it's akin to the age-old Chia pet, and why wouldn't anyone be able to dream up Garfield w/ a green afro, but something about her creation makes it not nearly as kooky, and 200% more livable.
Creating seasonal headpieces would not only instigate me to buy more flowers year round, but it would give those that don't have "the touch" when arranging to take another stab at it.
I'M SOLD!
